The main problem in hitting instruction today is that coaches learned how to hit the wrong way, so they now teach hitting the wrong way.
It’s not really your fault, because how can you teach the right way to get the most power, if you never learned it?
Age-old instructions like "move your hands to the ball" or "keep your back elbow up" are actually harming most player’s swings, and robbing them of up to 50% of the potential power they could get.
That means swings that would have been a solid line-drive double… never make it past the infield.
Those are things that a fancy, $400 new bat, or a high-tech swing analyzer won’t fix.
It’s just a game… right? Unfortunately not.
We all know the main lessons and skills we learn playing sports hardly have anything to do with the sport itself. It’s the intangibles like hard work, perseverance, teamwork and confidence that carry forward through all of life, and lead to a successful or unsuccessful life later down the road.
But if someone isn’t having much success and fun while they’re playing, it can be demoralizing, and zap their confidence overall.
But if someone is hitting the snot out of the ball, leading the team, and having a great time doing it, they have the confidence to do anything!
So even though it’s just a game now, it’s building the foundation for entire lives.
